Residents at Arplemere care home in Warrington have been celebrating Happiness Happens Day by creating friendship cards, each decorated with a handmade knitted forget-me-not flower and a heartfelt message:
“Friendship is the comfort of knowing that even when you feel alone, you aren’t.”
As part of the initiative, resident Rose Atkins and Sophia, Lifestyle Assistant, took to the local neighbourhood to personally deliver the cards, posting them through residents’ letterboxes to brighten people’s day.
Soon after the trip, the home received a call from a local neighbour who wanted to express her gratitude. She said the card had truly made her day and that the kindness shown by Arplemere residents had brought a smile to her face.
Rose Atkins said: “This was a lovely idea and a way of spreading kindness to all. I was very happy to be part of it.”
Laura Aspin, the General Manager at Arplemere, added, “The project was a wonderful way for residents to connect with the wider community while celebrating the power of simple acts of goodwill.
“We’re so proud to have a home filled with genuinely kind people.”
