Rownhams Manor care home in Southampton is proud to support a thriving local friendship group, providing a space where people can come together for companionship and mutual support.
Every week, between 10am and 12pm volunteers gather in the home’s garden room to enjoy a cuppa and freshly baked cakes prepared by the home’s chef.
The group, which originally began as a bereavement support group, was renamed a “friendship group” to better reflect the diverse needs and personalities of its members.
The connection between the group and Rownhams Manor is particularly special, as one of the home’s former residents was an original member. When local community funding cuts meant the group’s meeting spaces, Rownhams Manor invited members to use the care home’s facilities free of charge.
Friendship Group organiser Lesley said: “Thank you to Rownhams Manor for allowing our group a comfortable and inviting space to gather and support each other.
“Rownhams Manor has been such a breath of fresh air to us, and we will continue to work to enrich the lives of all residents. People need people and this means the world to us.”
