Residents from Lake View Lodge care home recently enjoyed an evening at St John’s Church, Halling, where they took part in a local bell ringing lesson in the church’s tower.
The tower at St John’s Church dates back to the 15th century, traditionally used to call parishioners to worship and mark occasions in village life.
Brian Hicks and Alan Miles, residents at the care home, attended the session after spotting the opportunity in the Halling View Newsletter.
As the pair arrived at the church, they were immediately greeted by the sound of the bells ringing. Alan said, “All the helpers at the church were very attentive and looked after us.”
Brian and Alan were greeted by Chris Beaney, Church Warden at St John’s Church, who personally welcomed them into the church.
Sally Taylor, Customer Relations Manager at Lake View Lodge, accompanied the gents to the church. Sally said,
“We are always looking for opportunities that enable our residents to remain active and connected with their local community. Brian and Alan thoroughly enjoyed their evening at St John’s Church and were made to feel incredibly welcome by everyone involved.
“We would like to thank Chris Beaney and the bell ringing team for their hospitality and kindness.”
