Hilary Hasson

General Manager

Hilary is the General Manager at Landers Court and has been fortunate to call Cornwall home for more than 27 years. Nursing has played a significant part in her life and career, taking her through many different areas of healthcare and giving her a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Hilary began her nursing career across a variety of settings, including maternity, theatres and general nursing. Over time, her career naturally developed towards caring for older people, leading her into the care home sector, where she discovered a real passion and sense of purpose.

For nearly seven years, Hilary has worked within care homes in a variety of roles, progressing from Nurse to Deputy Manager and then General Manager. During this time, she has had the privilege of managing dual-registered residential and nursing homes, as well as working as a Hospice Matron.

These experiences have taught Hilary that excellent care is about far more than meeting someone’s clinical needs. For her, it is about getting to know each person, listening to them, understanding what matters to them and supporting them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Hilary’s passion for caring for older people is also deeply personal. Her own granny lived in a care home, giving Hilary valuable insight into the experience from a family member’s perspective. This has always stayed with her and serves as an important reminder of how vital it is for residents and their families to feel welcomed, listened to, valued and reassured.

A very people-focused person, Hilary loves nothing more than having a good chat and believes that sometimes a conversation over a cup of tea can be just as important as anything else.

As the General Manager of Landers Court, Hilary’s door will always be open to every resident and family member , whether they have a question, a concern, an idea or simply fancy a chat.

Outside of work, Hilary is happiest outdoors and surrounded by animals. She has a collection of rescue dogs, horses and one very loved cat. Animals have always been a huge part of her life, alongside her love of the great outdoors. When she isn’t at work, there’s a very good chance Hilary can be found outside somewhere, usually with muddy boots and an animal nearby!
