Residents, relatives, and members of the local community came together for a day of fundraising as Arplemere care home in Warrington hosted its first Summer Festival in aid of RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre.
The event proved to be a huge success, featuring live music, artisan stalls, traditional games, and a sizzling BBQ. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, the festival raised £300 for the heritage centre.
RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre plays an important role in preserving the history and memories of the former RAF Burtonwood site, which has strong links to the local area.

John Cotterill, who has worked at the heritage centre for many years, thanked the care home and its supporters for their fundraising efforts:
“Our mission is to keep the memory alive. We have people from all over visit us and we are a huge part of the community,” said John. “This donation is very much appreciated, and we are thankful to Arplemere for their kindness.”
Residents thoroughly enjoyed welcoming visitors to the home and supporting a meaningful local cause. Among them was 97-year-old resident Tom Riley, who said:
“What a fantastic day. It was lovely to see so many people attend for a great cause – I loved it!”
Laura Aspin, the General Manager at Arplemere, added, “Our first Summer Festival exceeded all expectations.
“It was wonderful to see people come together for such a special day while raising money for an organisation that does so much to preserve an important part of Warrington’s history. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success.”
