Compassion, Community, and Inclusivity Sees Bexhill Care Home Rated GOOD in First CQC Inspection

12 August 2026 Collington Park Lodge

Collington Park Lodge care home in Bexhill has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) across all five Key Lines of Enquiry (categories) following its first inspection.

During the on-site assessment, CQC inspectors spent time observing life within the home, speaking with residents, family members, staff and healthcare professionals to gain a full picture of the care and support provided.

Inspectors praised the home’s person-led approach, noting that staff encouraged residents ‘to maximise their independence, choice and control’, whilst always treating people with kindness, empathy and compassion, respecting their privacy and dignity.

Collington Park Lodge’s ‘Home for Life’ ethos was highlighted positively within the report, saying that it helps to create an environment that promotes inclusivity and homeliness, where residents are encouraged to choose how they spend their day.

Inspectors were impressed by the ‘strong sense of community’ throughout the home, with residents enjoying positive relationships with staff and one another. One resident said: “We get on well; we have fun and laugh.”

They also found that the team ‘openly encouraged and welcomed’ local people to the home for events and daily activities, including mother and baby groups and flower arranging, as well as residents enjoying trips out to nearby attractions or attending church services.

Feedback from residents, families and professionals was overwhelmingly positive. One family member told inspectors: “They’re marvellous, can’t do enough for you, all of them. I can’t fault them.”  Other families confirmed to CQC that they had been involved in the planning of care and were regularly updated by the home.

Collington Park Lodge was awarded the highest available score for ‘Capable, Compassionate and Inclusive Leaders’, due to the leadership team being visible, accessible and caring about the wellbeing and development of their staff.

Team members were actively given opportunities to ‘learn new skills and progress internally.’ One staff member said: “We look to improve ourselves and our knowledge, most places don’t encourage that”, with another praising the culture in the home: “you are not just an employee”.

Paula Hepworth, the General Manager at Collington Park Lodge, said, “We are delighted to have received a ‘Good’ rating from the CQC. This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team, who provide high-quality, person-led care every day.”

“We are particularly proud that the inspection recognised our strong community spirit and the positive culture at Collington Park Lodge. We would like to thank our residents, their families and our team for their continued support and for helping make our home such a special place to live and work.”
