A carer at Estuary Gardens Care Home in Deeside is taking on a personal fundraising challenge this February to support Dementia UK.
Maryanne Foster, who works closely with residents living with dementia at Estuary Gardens, has committed to walking 1 kilometre every day throughout the month as part of Dementia UK’s “1K a Day” challenge.
Speaking about her motivation, Maryanne explained that the challenge is deeply personal to her. A close family member developed the early stages of dementia and passed away very quickly, an experience that left a lasting impact.
Maryanne said, “I am walking the 1K every day this February to raise funds, to show support and offer even a small bit of help to those living with dementia and the families who walk this journey beside them.
“I have never done anything like this before, but knowing the funds I raise will help, even a little, in giving families the support they need makes it all worthwhile.”
You can find out more about Maryanne’s challenge in aid of Dementia UK at Estuary Gardens’ weekly Coffee Morning, every Monday between 10:00 and 11:00.
