Three Yeovil Carers Named Finalists in Inaugural Andor Awards

2 September 2025 Potter House

Three dedicated team members at Potter House care home in Yeovil have been named finalists in the first Andor Awards, a new initiative launched to celebrate the health and social care sector in support of The Care Workers’ Charity.

The three finalists from Potter House are:

  • Rhona Lyne – Finalist in the Overcoming Challenges Award

Rhona has dedicated nearly three decades to care, driven by a personal family experience, and she wants to ensure dignity and compassion for others in their later years. Speaking about her nomination, she said:

“I am really proud to have been nominated. I love care because when I look at the people we care for, I can see the person they used to be. They have stories to tell, families, and jobs, and I feel privileged to know them.

“Everyone has the right to be cared for in their twilight years, and Potter House enables me to make a difference every single day.”

  • Emily Barnes – Finalist in the Best Ambassador Award

Emily began her career in care at 19-years-old and is now the Care Manager at Potter House, with 16 years of experience supporting residents and their families. She said:

“I feel incredibly grateful to have been nominated by my colleagues and honoured to be a finalist. As someone who has often doubted myself, this recognition means so much. Working in care is about compassion, dignity, and respect — and being shortlisted inspires me to continue championing those values.”

  • Alicia Lowe – Finalist in the Young Care Worker of the Year Award

At just 21-years-old, Alicia has impressed her colleagues since joining Potter House earlier this year, following her Level 3 Health and Social Care diploma. Alicia said:

“I feel so privileged to be shortlisted. I absolutely love my job. I love supporting residents to make sure they are safe and happy. My family has always worked in healthcare, and they’ve inspired me to follow this path.

“I’m proud of the carer I’ve become and grateful to be recognised alongside such amazing colleagues.”

Callum Pearce, the General Manager at Potter House added, “We couldn’t be prouder of Rhona, Emily, and Alicia for this outstanding recognition. Each of them brings compassion, dedication, and professionalism to their roles every single day, and it’s fantastic to see their hard work honoured in the Andor Awards.”

The winners of the Andor Awards 2025 will be announced at a ceremony onboard The Dixie Queen Paddle Steamer on 23rd October in London.
