Penrose Croft to Bring Much‑Needed Care and New Jobs to Helston

26 March 2026 Penrose Croft

Crystal Care Collection has announced an upcoming care home, Penrose Croft, a purpose‑built home in Helston which will provide high‑quality residential and dementia care for older people in West Cornwall.

Cornwall is experiencing a growing shortfall in elderly care home beds, with demand for beds forecast to rise by around 15% by 2030 and 35% by 2035.

Most of Cornwall’s existing care homes are smaller, older buildings, and just 15% are purpose‑built with only around 60% of beds en‑suite and under 10% offering wet‑rooms.

Penrose Croft has been developed specifically to address this gap, providing 66 en‑suite bedrooms, bright lounges and dining areas, a salon, private family spaces, a cinema, and accessible facilities that support independence and wellbeing.

Once the home is fully occupied, circa 60 new roles will be created, including care, housekeeping, catering, management and activities team members.

This will bring significant long‑term employment opportunities to Helston, with Crystal Care Collection committed to recruiting locally and offering training and development for people seeking a career in care.

Em Dean, the Managing Director at Crystal Care Collection in the South West of England, said, “Penrose Croft represents a major investment in the future of care in Helston, and we are committed to making it a true part of the town.

We will be regularly opening our doors to local groups, schools and volunteers so that residents remain active, connected and involved in the heart of the Helston community.”

Crystal Care Collection’s all‑inclusive, ‘Crystal Clear’ fee at Penrose Croft means one fixed weekly price covers everything from 24‑hour care, freshly prepared meals and housekeeping to hairdressing, chiropody, days out and a packed calendar of activities.

There are no hidden extras or surprise bills, so residents can simply enjoy life, and families have complete peace of mind about the cost of care no matter the needs of the resident.
