Lamb‑tastic Easter Fun Brings Community Together at Somer Valley House

2 April 2026 Somer Valley House

Residents, families, and members of the local community came together on Sunday 29th March 2026 as Somer Valley House care home hosted an Easter Event filled with seasonal fun.

The event featured a range of activities for all ages, including animal visits with newborn lambs and chicks provided by Twinnies Petting Farm, and Easter crafts.

Outdoors, excitement built around a large-scale Easter Egg Hunt, with eggs hidden throughout the grounds. A special appearance from the Easter Bunny added to the magic.

The home’s kitchen team provided an impressive array of refreshments, including traditional scones with jam and clotted cream, Easter nest cakes, biscuits, and chick-shaped macaroons.

Donations collected during the day will be contributed to Time is Precious, a local charity supporting families in need.

Somer Valley House resident, Joy Kent, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed every second of the afternoon it was simply wonderful. And oh, those lambs and chicks, I could quite happily have kidnapped them and hidden them in my room! I had the loveliest cuddles with them.

“Watching the children taking part in the Easter egg hunt was such a joy as well. It brought back so many fond memories of my own children and grandchildren doing the very same in my garden when they were little.”

Emma Curtain, the Customer Relationship Manager at Somer Valley House, added, “Bringing all age groups together home is so beneficial for everyone. We want to show the younger generations that care homes are interesting, fun and exciting places that they can look forward to visiting.”
