Fairwood Fields care home in Pontefract is collecting Easter Eggs in aid of Castleford based charity, Smiles for Miles.
Founded in 2019, Smiles for Miles provides essential sleepwear and school uniforms to families across the area and holds annual Easter Egg and Christmas selection box appeals.
As well as donating Easter Eggs this year, Fairwood Fields has become a drop-off point for community members to contribute to the drive.
76-year-old resident, Linda Harris, said, “I think this is marvellous! There should be more of that kindness in the world.” Fellow resident Malcolm Cunningham (83), added, “It’s great to donate to a local charity and to be able to see the good that comes from it”.
Lynn Robinson, the General Manager at Fairwood Fields, commented, “Smiles for Miles is such an important part of our community, and the support they provide is incredible.
“We’re so proud to offer a helping hand to their Easter Egg appeal this year as part of our Community Tree initiative.”
Through the Community Tree initiative, the home encourages connections with local people, schools, voluntary groups, and organisations to take part in shared activities, events, and projects, helping residents to remain part of the place they know and love.
