Fairwood Fields Care Home in Pontefract hosted its first-ever Christmas Fayre, welcoming residents, families and members of the local community for a festive celebration.
The event featured a variety of stalls hosted by local community members, alongside live music from singer Charlie Lee and a special performance by the Castleford Male Voice Choir.
Younger guests enjoyed a bouncy castle, a dedicated kids’ corner offering crafts and colouring, and a magical Santa’s Grotto. Each child had the opportunity to visit Santa and received a wrapped Christmas gift.
Food proved to be a highlight of the day, with visitors enjoying freshly prepared stew and dumplings, hotdogs, fudge and cupcakes, freshly made by the Fairwood Fields’ Head Chef. The residents at Fairwood Fields also crafted handmade sweetie cones.
General Manager Lynn Robinson said:
“Community is incredibly important to us at Fairwood Fields. As a new home, we wanted to open our doors, welcome people in and show that we are active members of the Pontefract community. Seeing residents, families, children and local people coming together, laughing and celebrating the festive season is a memory we will always cherish.”
You can find out more about community events at Fairwood Fields during the homes weekly Neighbourhood Natter every Wednesday from 10:00, where all are welcome to enjoy a hot drink and homemade cake with the residents.
