Dale Brook care home in Clay Cross hosted an “Advice for Golden Years” event, uniting local care providers, emergency services, solicitors and home care professionals to offer free information and advice tailored to older people and their families.
The drop‑in event was designed to help residents and the wider community navigate key later‑life topics, from staying safe and independent at home to understanding legal planning and care options.
Located in North East Derbyshire, where according to the Office for National Statistics the proportion of people aged 75 to 84 has risen from 6.8% to 8.8% over the last decade, Dale Brook recognises the importance of proactive support for an ageing population.
The “Advice for Golden Years” event gave attendees the chance to speak with professionals about day care and home care services, legal matters such as wills and lasting powers of attorney, and how to work effectively with emergency services.
Donal McFadden, the General Manager at Dale Brook, said, “Older people and their families often tell us that knowing where to start is the hardest part.”
“By bringing trusted local experts together under one roof, we wanted to make it easier for our community to get clear, compassionate advice on the issues that matter most in later life.”
