On Tuesday 11th November, residents and staff at Middleshaw Hills care home in Clitheroe came together with Barrow URC Primary School to honour Remembrance Day.
A group of pupils, named the ‘Happiness Heroes’ of the school who act as student wellbeing ambassadors, shared beautiful handmade poppies for the home’s garden.
Adding to the Remembrance display the pupils also generously donated a striking ‘Tommy’ soldier silhouette, which now stands proudly among the poppies.
Charlotte Pardon, the General Manager at Middleshaw Hills, said, “We’re so grateful to the pupils and staff at Barrow URC Primary for helping us mark Remembrance Day in such a meaningful way.
“Seeing the children place their handmade poppies with such care and respect really touched our residents’ hearts. The connection between the generations was lovely to see.”
Amilia Tate, the Oak Class teacher at Barrow URC Primary School, who helped organise the visit, added,
“The children at Barrow URC Primary School really enjoyed sharing their handmade poppies with our neighbours, the residents at Middleshaw Hills Care Home. It was a lovely moment between generations, filled with smiles, stories, and remembrance.”
The children from Barrow URC Primary School will be visiting Middleshaw Hills again on Friday 12th December from 2pm, where they’ll be singing Christmas carols. All are welcome to attend and enjoy mince pies, mulled wine, and lots of other festive refreshments.
